Wasted plastic brings valuable bricks
The robotic engineer, inventor Rakitha Brito has developed multi-coloured plastic bricks using the wasted plastics, poly bags and the lunch sheet.
In this process, it should separate that plastic and polythene
by their thickness, be clean and move such as foods. Then that plastic a point
to crush to small pieces and Nano liquid should be added to get more strength
and durability for the brick. Eng. Rakitha Brito
In the new version, it can be colour with environment changes. Such as when we in daylight it makes one colour and in the dark cool environment it makes another colour as well as it responds to our body temperature.
''Plastic has a non-solution major problem in Sri Lanka. There has every day using plastic and moving to the environment. Such as lunch sheet and shopping bags. They don’t crumble; therefore, it’s made environment pollution and died animals. Because lots of animals are taking to eat removing foods in garbage bins, and garbage glut. Mainly occur with elephants and cows.
Nowadays, People have made recycling plastics as a solution, but it reduces of lunch sheet and polybags. So that Rakitha thought to make a solution for the glut of plastics, polybags and lunch sheet.
Our environment is constantly
changing. There is no denying that. However, as our environment changes, so
does the need to become increasingly aware of the problems that surround it.
With a massive influx of natural
disasters, warming and cooling periods, different types of weather patterns and
much more, people need to be aware of what types of environmental problems our
planet is facing.
Environmental Pollution occurs when pollutants contaminate the natural surroundings; which brings about changes that affect our normal lifestyles adversely. Pollutants are the key elements or components of pollution which are generally waste materials of different forms. Pollution disturbs our ecosystem and the balance in the environment. With modernization and development in our lives, pollution has reached its peak; giving rise to global warming and human illness.
Pollution occurs in different
forms; air, water, soil, radioactive, noise, heat/ thermal and light. Every
form of pollution has two sources of occurrence; the point and the non-point
sources. The point sources are easy to identify, monitor and control, whereas
the non-point sources are hard to control.
Let us discuss the different types of pollutions, their causes and effects on mankind and the environment. However, certain factors are affecting environmental pollutions. Our focus to overcome environmental pollution by plastic.
Plastic pollution is defined as
the accumulation of the different types of plastic material on land, as well as
in water bodies like rivers, oceans, canals, lakes, etc. As a commodity, it is
used on a large scale all around the world. Basically, it is a synthetic
polymer that consists of many organic and inorganic compounds and is mostly
derived from petrochemicals like olefins. Plastic materials are mainly
classified as thermoplastics (polystyrene and polyvinyl chloride) and
thermosetting polymers (polyisoprene). Apart from these, they can also be
classified as biodegradable, engineering, and elastomer plastics. Although they
are extremely useful in many ways and have been an important part of the global
polymer industry, their production as well as disposal, pose a great threat to
all the life forms on Earth.
Then polythene parts mixture put to mould. Although we can decide it's shaping if we wish. This brick not heavy, we can get heavier with adding other raw materials. This brick has various spatiality.
● Very cheaper than the concrete version.
● Set quickly and are very
strong.
● Make good rainwater
harvester.
● Non-water absorbent. [hydrophobic effect]
● Algae and fungus are almost eliminated.
● Low manufacturing cost.
● Minimum water usage.
● No cement.
● High strength.
● Creating Job opportunities.
● ECO friendly.
● Re usage. [Concrete version can’t]
● Keeping you warm in winter
and cool in summer.
● Have superb heat-insulating
properties (5 times more than standard bricks).
● Each brick helps rid the
world of discarded plastic and is cheaper.
● More fuel-efficient to manufacture than conventional bricks.
● Can make a thin stone with strong
strength.
● Nano technology-based.
● We can make different shapes.
● We can make different
colours.
● We can create differently
objects.
I think this brick will most famous through with the children and helps to save our environment as well as. Chanka Ranasinghe, Mayor of Polonnaruwa and Charith, Mahesh, Chamila, Ajith and my family gave me big support to develop this brick. I have made a chance to thanks all them who are supporting me to develop this brick.'' Rakitha said.
